It makes me wonder…
Yes, it makes me wonder…It being the recent stuff going on with the studio. When they announced we were beginning to start preparing for the studio, I thought it was to be the opportunity of a life-time….After a week, things got pretty tense. One group of people dove headfirst into writing songs and arranging…but it was as if it was their CD…currently, I?m not a songwriter, but I can still make music. But it seemed it was an exclusive thing, now I reckon if I had worked hard to get in on it I would be a part of it, but my hands where full as it was. All in all, it was like the gauntlet band was making the CD….after hearing many complaints and stuff, it was addressed by leadership. They ensured us that this wasn?t the case and if we wanted to get in on the CD all we should do is show up to practice and be familar with the song so they would have the ability to throw us up on an instrument with no problem….I showed to about all the practices except for a few.
Last week they announced the song list and musicians for the CD, the musicians were just about the same for all the songs. The drummer is the same for the entire album. The electric guitarist is the same for the entire album. One of the bassists is playing all the songs except for two where two other bass players are filling in. The keyboardist is the same for the entire album, pending Joel doesn?t play on his song due to the fact that they totally re-arranged his entire song.
Several songs didn?t make the list either. One of Joel?s songs didn?t make it because he had a lyric in there that went something like ?ravished by a man? referring of course to God…not a homosexual. Nonetheless, the removed the song because of the ?sketchiness.? I don?t understand this one, we write songs for God, not the world.
They tossed Ben Spencer?s song about grace, they tossed Heather?s ?What I Need?….unless they have time to record it.
I questioned a few of the recording artists/musicians what the theme was. They replied, ?The King, King, Praise? something to that effect. I thought out each song that met the criteria. Maybe half the songs met it. The rest didn?t. So I concluding the album has no theme, its just a compliation of songs with no-defined theme.
I figured that my road to getting on the CD was through loops and programming since I?m somewhat gifted in that area.
We?ve finally gotten up to the studio dates and I find that probably isn?t going to happen. Cody, Cody, and I had worked something for a song…and it worked. However, Tony the producer/mastermind/teacher behind all the CD/SOW stuff isn?t too keen on loops. ?Its a era thing? If you listen to his album you quickly notice he used no such enhancement to his album. I?m hoping we could get this switched up, but I don?t know.
I find it odd that recording experience is something SOW wants to offer, yet only few get to be a part of it. Yet, leadership justifies it with ?Oh, Yall will get to sing a part? referring to a chant/BGV part that has yet to be rehearsed….we?re going into the studio today @ 4….what gives?
I?ve kept my cool about all this nonsense, but after being submerged in it for a week or two, it gets to you. It worries me about this album….with all the strife, rumor, and talking ?behind their backs? how things are going to work out.

God will get it to work out for the best in the end. love ya, caleigh
