Okay, the IHOP recap for everyone.
Well 10pm on Wednesday(9/3) we loaded on an ATF bus, we drove through the night stopping maybe 2 or 3 times. I got off the bus each time and loaded up on some snacks and stuff. Snagged an Arby’s sandwich once at like 2am. M@ and I watched the new mummy. We concluded that we were glad we didn’t see it in theaters. We then totally crashed and slept the whole way. I love my shure l2’s, I slept the whole way listening to band hammock(thanks for the recommendation Stanfill!) without being disturbed. We woke up and were at IHOP. We met up w/ our contact and drove over to our host homes. We cleaned up and got ready for the opening session.
Day 1
Corey Russell spoke at the opening session about John the Baptist, it was a cool message. I like the way he teaches. Mike Bickle spoke at the evening session. I personally, do not like the way he teaches. It just seems like he’s irritated. I know his voice is loud and commanding. But it’s like he’s yelling/raising his voice the whole time. Anyway, he taught about the end times, it was a controversial sermon.
Day 2
Today, was hard. We were all still whipped and we woke up at like 7. So we were constantly battling sleep. Anyway, the highlight of today was the breakout sessions. I went to the Harp & Bowl session. Which is Music & Prayer and how they’re intertwined. It was a very interesting session. It revealed to me how cool the prophetic singers are and how easy it is. I think we might be implementing some of this at a prayer meeting on campus.
Day 3
Once again, they had breakouts again today. I went to the one about building a worship team with excellence. I was quite disapointed with this session especially since I was looking forward to it. The dude who taught was one of the leaders for Merchant Band. However he showed up and asked us, the audience, what the topic was. I was shocked. He basically just talked about his testimony and how he arrived at IHOP. I didn’t go to a second breakout, I just went to the prayer room and saw the end of Misty Edwards set. I also snagged a coffee at the coffee shop, Higher Grounds. I have to say this is by far, one of the coolest coffee shops I’ve been to. I also skipped the last session, taught by Mike Bickle, to go in the prayer room and to talk with other folks about what we had learned this weekend. I really enjoyed it.
The Prayer Room
First, let me say the prayer room was not what I expected it to be. I figured it was like some room with a band and a bunch of people praying. hahh, seems logical right? Well no. I walk in and survey the room. They have the stage in the front with chairs in front of it. Midway back they have the sound board along with several video cameras. Behind the soundboard they have a area marked off for dancing, it was totally cool. Along the sides of the room in the rear are doors with rooms designated for different focused prayer. So they have a room for Israel, healing, and more. In the front sides, as well as scattered all over the prayer room, were long tables where people had set up laptops and notebooks. These were basically for working on homework in the prayer room. It was so cool. How much I would love to do my homework in there.
Nonetheless, the weekend was great and it excited me for what we will be bringing back to Teen Mania. Anyway, that’s my IHOP Recap!
